# EasyShoot > EasyShoot is a free, open-source (MIT) screenshot app for macOS 14 and later. It captures an area, a window, the full screen or a whole scrolling page, lets you annotate the image and frame it on a clean background, and never uploads anything. The interface is in English, Arabic, French, Spanish and German. - Website: https://easyshoot.haythamasalama.me/ - Download (latest release, EasyShoot.zip): https://github.com/Haythamasalama/easyshoot/releases/latest - Source code: https://github.com/Haythamasalama/easyshoot - Author: Haytham A. Salama (https://haythamasalama.me) ## Features - Capture: area, window (press Space while selecting) and fullscreen, each on a global shortcut you can record yourself. - Scrolling capture: stitches long web pages, chats and documents into one image; sticky headers and footers appear once. Auto-scroll is optional. - Quick Access: a floating thumbnail after each capture to copy, save, annotate or drag into another app. - Annotations: arrows, lines, rectangles, ellipses, text, numbered counters, highlighter, pen and pixelate. Every mark stays editable. - Text: any font installed on the Mac, plus Google Fonts downloaded on demand. Arabic and Hebrew are written right-to-left with correct shaping. - Background tool: gradients, solid colours or transparent, with padding, corner radius, shadow, aspect ratio and alignment. - Crop and resize: free or fixed ratios (1:1, 4:3, 16:9), resize by percent or to an exact width. - Presets: save a style and make it the default; without a default, each screenshot starts with the last settings. - Export: PNG, JPEG, HEIC or TIFF; copy with Shift-Command-C, save with Command-S. - Updates: checks GitHub Releases once a day (can be turned off) and installs a new version in place with one click. - Privacy: no account, no cloud, no analytics. The app only goes online to check for updates and to download a Google font you pick. ## Default shortcuts - Capture area: Option-Shift-Command-4 - Capture window: Option-Shift-Command-5 - Capture fullscreen: Option-Shift-Command-3 - Scrolling capture: Option-Shift-Command-6 - Annotate the clipboard image: Option-Shift-Command-7 ## Install 1. Run in Terminal: `curl -fsSL https://easyshoot.haythamasalama.me/install.sh | bash`. It downloads the latest release into Applications and opens it, with no Gatekeeper prompt. 2. Click Allow in the Welcome window to grant Screen Recording permission. EasyShoot lives in the menu bar. 3. Updates are installed from inside the app (Settings > General > Updates, or the menu bar's Check for Updates). Manual alternative: download EasyShoot.zip from the latest release and move EasyShoot.app to Applications. The app is not notarized yet, so a browser download needs Open Anyway in System Settings > Privacy & Security once, or `xattr -cr /Applications/EasyShoot.app`. ## Build from source Requires Xcode 15 or later (Xcode 26 for the Liquid Glass look). Swift Package Manager, Apple frameworks only, no third-party dependencies. ``` git clone https://github.com/Haythamasalama/easyshoot.git cd easyshoot swift test ./scripts/build-app.sh open build/EasyShoot.app ``` ## Contributing - Contributing guide: https://github.com/Haythamasalama/easyshoot/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.md - Pull request titles follow Conventional Commits, for example `feat(editor): add a blur tool`. - Report a bug or request a feature: https://github.com/Haythamasalama/easyshoot/issues
